Travel: The Berkshires, Massachusetts

I love planning weekend getaways with friends, especially in the wintertime when there aren’t always as many social gatherings planned. It’s something fun to look forward to and get excited about and it’s also a great way to connect with people when they aren’t typically as busy. We decided to go rent an Air BnB in the Berkshires with our friends a week ago. There were about 18 people and luckily the house had more than enough beds! We spent most of the time playing games (my favorites were chess and a board game called “Code Names”), reading by the cozy fire, cooking delicious meals, and catching up with friends. We even played a game of hide and seek, which was a bit creepy in the huge, dark house but made me feel like a little kid again!

Besides the great company, one of my favorite parts about this mini excursion was the backyard of our rental house. Ben and I were lucky to have the backyard as the view outside of our bedroom window. It looked out on an open field, hills, and a small barn where two horses lived. We even got to meet the horses. They were adorable! Then we watched the sunset from outside, which was absolutely stunning.

I highly recommend exploring the Berkshires. I know it is a popular destination in the summer and fall, but I found it to be a true “getaway”, as it is a relaxing break from city life. I wish we had been able to go hiking or do some other outdoor activity, but we spent all of our limited time catching up with friends, which takes priority! If you are looking for a place to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and spend quality time with the ones you love, think about renting a place in the Berkshires. We are already planning our next visit!
